Since we will be arriving into spring time, why not enjoy some time outside at our local Happy Valley Farmer's Market?
The suggested time will be from 11 A.M. - 2 P.M., but do not feel the need to stay the entire duration if you have previous engagements, or if you need to take your little ones home! We just hope to spend a little time with you

Hera Day: Donate & Dine
We know it's short notice, but we want to make sure that this year's Hera Day does not go unnoticed! Plus, who we know that you're itching to do a little spring cleaning! That said, this year, we have decided to do a quick little 'Donate and Dine' event, where our sisters can bring clothing to donate and then enjoy some quality time (and food) with their fellow Alpha Chis!
The plan will be for our sisters to bring their clothing donations in tow (children-adult wear; doesn't matter). Then we will convene at Margarita Factory at 12 P.M. to eat our delicious meals and catch up! Afterwards, our sisters will then transfer their donations to Avery, and she will then take the donations up the street to Deseret Industries Thrift Store & Donation Center. This thrift store partners with Clackamas Women's Services, a local non-profit that assists victims of domestic violence by offering a myriad of services, including clothing vouchers.
Of course, if you cannot make it, we do sincerely hope that you act in a way of service for Hera Day! Be sure to tag us in any posts of you activities (@xixiaxo) and, not only will we post your photos onto our social media accounts, but we will also add them into our next newsletter!
Margarita Factory address:
11211 SE 82nd Ave Suite A, Happy Valley, OR 97086
Please RSVP to this event by 2/26 via our private FB page, our newsletter, or by sending an email to: social.xixiaxo@gmail.com

Alpha Chi Night Out
This year, our executive board has decided to put a little family-friendly spin on our annual "Alpha Chi Night Out"!
Instead of our usual rendez-vous to a restaurant, it felt prudent to add something fun and energetic into the mix and have a bowling night at Grand Central Bowling in downtown Portland! This will be a family friendly event, so please feel free to bring your children & partners, especially if they love arcade games!
Grand Central Bowling:
808 SE Morrison St, Portland, OR 97214
Please RSVP by 02/01/25 so we can reserve the proper amount of lanes! We will be at the alley at 5 P.M. Please RSVP at social.xixiaxo@gmail.com, via our newsletter or our private Facebook event page.

New Year's Resolution Brunch
For January 2025, our sisters will be meeting at Babica Hen Café in luxurious Lake Oswego for our annual Resolution Brunch! As always, this is time for our sisters to sit down and not only reminisce about 2024, but discuss and plan what they are looking forward to in 2025! If you feel so inclined to bring paper and a pen to jot down notes or thoughts during our resolution process, please do so! This is meant to be a fruitful discussion about our futures.
This event will take place on January 4th 2025 at 10 A.M.
The address to Babica Hen Café is:
15964 Boones Ferry Rd, Lake Oswego, OR 97035
Please RSVP by 12/27/24 via email to: social.xixiaxo@gmail.com or via our newsletter and/or private Facebook event page.

Philanthropic event: Individual canned-food donations
For the month of November, it seemed that a philanthropic event was needed. Therefore, we are encouraging out sisters to give individual donations of canned food to local food banks and drives.
As winter closes in, this can be a trying time for many families who are sorely requiring sustenance and cheer with the holidays approaching.
Please be sure to submit pictures of you and your donations to either our Instagram or email us at: social.xixiaxo@gmail.com. These pictures will be added to the upcoming quarterly newsletter!

Support Baby Burke & Family
Another surprise event for everyone!
Some of our sisters thought it would be really nice to support our own, Elizabeth Burke, as she's due to have her next child in September!
Per her request, I'd like to share her baby registry information with you all, as well as her Meal Train information (which I will add onto here once it's been finalized).
I'm sure many of you know the joys & stresses that come with a newborn, and what better way to support one of our sisters, by coming together and helping her family along the way?
Here is Elizabeth's baby registry link & her Meal Train link.
Thank you all for your love and support!

July Book Club Meeting
Exciting news, sisters!
Our upcoming Book Club meeting will be happening on July 13th at Coffee Rush in Oregon City, OR!
The book that we will be reading is Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimerer. We also wanted to share that this book is available on Audible and the Libby app, if you cannot get your hands on a physical copy!
As always, though some of our sisters will be discussing the literature at hand, reading the book is not necessary to join us! We are happy to have you, regardless!
We hope to see your smiling faces! Please utilize the block within your monthly newsletter to RSVP, our private Facebook event page (QR available on our home page here), or email our Chapter President, at xixiaxo@gmail.com

Hall of Commitment
The senior members of the Delta Omicron Chapter of Portland State University will be graduating soon! Therefore, it is important that Xi Xi shows their support and celebrates their collegiate careers, as well as assist them in their Hall of Commitment Ceremony!
Colette Livermore, our gracious philanthropy chair, has offered to act as host for the event! People can arrive as early as 5:30 P.M. (to the address listed above). To help Colette out, it would also be preferred to email her at colettetimna@gmail.com, OR, so she can be sure about who will be arriving at her home
Furthermore, it would also be preferred if our Xi Xi members assisted in bringing gifts/foods to the event. Regarding food, the list goes as follows:
-charcuterie meats
-charcuterie cheeses (goat cheese &/or sheep cheese, as well as lactose free cheese as well)
-charcuterie crackers (a variety would work just fine)
-dessert (no nuts please)
-lemonade
-iced tea
If you would like to either bring any of these items, please contact Colette (colettetimna@gmail.com). If instead you would prefer to donate to the cause, please donate to our PayPal, so we can make sure that these proud Delta Omicron seniors are taken care of!

Book Club Meeting
The original plan for our May Book Club meeting was to meet at Coffee Rush, in historic Oregon City. However, due to an added event, it seemed apt to move our meeting to a closer location to the first event! Therefore, we will be having our Book Club meeting at Ovation Coffee & Tea in Lake Oswego!
The address is:
17510 Provost St., Unit 105, Lake Oswego, OR 97034
The book we are discussing is What The River Knows by Isabel Ibañez
As always, reading the book is not a requirement; we’d love to see you there either way!

Xi Xi has been delightfully delegated to create a 75-year Milestone Ceremony for one Joyce Beals! This celebration is to take place on Saturday, May 18th, at 1 P.M. at an undisclosed location.

Book Club Event
Everyone, I do apologize for the complications from the previous event description. After conversing with Katie (Xi Xi President) along with some fellow chapter members, it seems like there was WAY more involved in the Barnes & Noble book signing than we had anticipated.
Therefore, we have decided to adjust this event to a simple book club meeting, rescheduled for the 23rd at 2:30 P.M.
We hope to see you there!
Please RSVP by 3/11/24 via our private Facebook page or through our monthly newsletter

Hera Day Event: Sack Lunch Project for Blanchet House
Some exciting news that Xi Xi would like to share with you!
Our Rockstar philanthropic chair, Colette, has been reaching out to PSU's AchiO chapter, Delta Omicron, and a wonderfully thoughtful event has been planned!
On March 2nd, both alumnae and collegiate Alpha Chi sisters will assist in crafting lunches to donate to the Blanchet House, a local nonprofit that assists with homelessness!
As of now, this is the plan:
Since the general public does not have access to the buildings on campus, the chapter members will meet alumnae in the main level lobby entrance on Broadway. They will then guide everyone to the space we will have the event (a reserved room inside of SMSU).
The physical address for SMSU is: 1825 SW Broadway, Portland, OR 97201
Supplies and ingredients will be picked up by Colette this Friday (2/23), which is entirely amazing and we thank her for that! That said, donations will be much appreciated for this event, and you can donate using our PayPal link (even $5 helps!).
Please make sure to use the button below to available in our newsletter to this event, or use our private Facebook Event page to do so.
Please RSVP by 2/28/24

This is a great time to unlock our intuition, problem-solving and attention to detail!

It is $44 per person for this event, which you can submit via our PayPal. Please click here to submit your payment; please make sure that you leave a note attached for your payment regarding the event itself.

Friends of Trees Event
This event has been canceled due to inclement weather- Please stay tuned for updated information regarding this event.
Friends of Trees is looking for a total of 40 volunteers to assist in planting hundreds of native trees and plants on a two acre parcel of the Columbia Slough!
Here is some information from Friends of Trees regarding this event:
Workload: You will plant smaller-sized native trees and shrubs, which are often easier for youth to plant on their own. The terrain will be generally flat and a bit muddy–but some locations do have terrain with steep slopes that can be difficult.
Friends of Trees provides gloves to borrow (that are professionally cleaned between uses) and tools (that are cleaned between each use). You are welcome to bring your own gloves and tools if you wish, but please remember them when you leave. Friends of Trees is not responsible for any misplaced personal items during our events.
During planting season (October-April), a waterproof jacket and rain pants are ideal, but any comfortable clothes that will keep you warm even if they get wet are great (synthetic fabrics and wool are better than cotton). For safety, we require that you wear sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots. Our events involve digging, hauling trees, handling woody mulch, and, sometimes, removing thorny introduced, weedy species. Please dress so that you will be comfortable with these activities.
It is requested that volunteers arrive by 9:45 A.M. to be checked in and be assigned to a planting crew; the planting begins at 10 A.M.
Tea/hot chocolate/coffee and breakfast snacks will be provided by the organization!
If you are wanting to attend this event, please fill out this interest form NO LATER than 12/26, and be sure to RSVP for this event via our monthly newsletter or our private Facebook page.
*The QR code of the private Facebook page can be found on this website and our Instagram account.

Xi Xi Volunteer Event with Stoor to Dore
Our amazing Philanthropy Chair, Colette Livermore, has constructed a wonderful volunteer opportunity for Xi Xi!
On December 14th, Xi Xi has been granted the ability to work with Store to Door, a nonprofit organization, that assists with delivering groceries to individuals who are elderly or homebound.
Our sisters will be meeting at the Fred Meyer on NE Weidler St. at 8:30 A.M and will receive further instructions from Store to Door staff, regarding lists and further information.
The event will only last two hours; no need to stress about extensive time commitments!
This will be a wonderful opportunity for Xi Xi to give back to the community! Not only will we make memories in our bond, but think of the memories we will make for those we will be helping! What a joyous way to give during our holiday season!
If you are interested in this affair, please click on this document to sign up as an attendee; we want to make sure that we roll into the store together!
Here is an additional document to fill out, set by Store to Door; this will help the organizers set up their event accordingly.

#GivingTuesday Donation Drive & Raffle
Another important aspect of this event will be our donation & raffle!

For their holiday drive, they are asking for gift cards (in $25 increments) from large retail stores such as, Target, Fred Meyer, Walmart, and the like.
*For more information, click this link.
Avery, Xi Xi's Communications chair, will be collecting a variety of clothing items at this event; articles will be donated to the Deseret Thrift store and Donation center in Happy Valley. Deseret works in tandem with Clackamas Women's Services (CWS), another local domestic violence shelter, who gives clothing vouchers for Deseret to those receiving services from CWS.
For each donation you bring to this event, you will receive one raffle ticket; the more you donate, the higher your chances are to winning some amazing Alpha Chi Omega merch!
Remember, this is our time to give back and shine a light on our philanthropic values as Alpha Chi's: let's do our best!
